Mozingo Named Safety Directory
6/1/2007

On May 14, 2007, Mark Mozingo officially started his new position as Safety Director for Direct Scaffold Services (DSS). For the past year, Mark had filled multiple positions within the DSS Operations Department. Most recently he directly supported Dan Rolfson, DSS National Operations Manager.

In May 2006, Mark joined our team after ten years in aircraft maintenance with the United States Air Force and the Tennessee Air National Guard. From 1996 to 2000, Mark served as an F-15 Eagle aircraft maintenance technician with the Air Force, and from 2000 to 2005 he served as a C-130 Hercules aircraft maintenance technician with the Air National Guard. Currently, he still serves part-time in an aircraft maintenance administrative role with the Air National Guard.

With safety education and training being the essential foundation for his new position as Safety Director, Mark’s experiences with military aircraft maintenance should serve him well. In the fast-paced world of military aircraft maintenance, safety education and training are an everyday occurrence. For over ten years, he has received recurrent training in areas such as basic first aid, fire protection/prevention, noise exposure, MSDS, hazard communication, record keeping, forklift training, PPE, housekeeping, hand tools, emergency preparedness, aerial personal lifts, LOTO, fall protection, operational risk management, and equipment maintenance/inspections. While all of this safety education and training is military-specific, the Air Force’s occupational safety and health standards are derived from the same OSHA standards that apply to the construction industry.

Even though aircraft maintenance and scaffold are different industries, they both have at least one thing in common. Without proper safety education and training about the risks and hazards, either of these occupations can severely injure someone. Mark is very excited about the opportunity to apply the safety education and training he obtained in the military towards eliminating risk to our valued employees and customers.
